My academic background is in social sciences, visual arts and creative non‑fiction writing. I have long term experience of working in these disciplines and possess a good working knowledge of key terms, concepts and general literatures relating to each.
I provide prompt, efficient and confidential copy editing and proof reading to help authors fine tune texts for presentation. I offer a friendly, one to one service and maintain regular communication with clients to keep them informed of work progress. According to client requirements I can work with electronic files or hard copy. I accept copy editing and proof reading commissions from clients working in the fields of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities, Visual Arts, Creative Writing and Non-fiction Writing.
Many institutions regard thesis editing as both ethical and permissible, especially when English is not the client's first language. It is, however, the client’s responsibility to ensure that the use of a proof reading or copy editing service does not contravene the rules of their institution.
I do not re-write clients’ work, but adopt a professional approach to clarifying and enhancing their texts.
Clients for whom English is a second language may find it especially worthwhile to invest in copy editing services since the editor's input can assist in the expansion of knowledge concerning vocabulary, grammar and style and so promote the self-confident production of written English.
A carefully edited and well presented text should stand a better chance of attracting positive attention when submitted to a book publisher or journal editor.
Every author’s work combines a unique range of writing habits, stylistic traits - and problem areas. Therefore my editing fees are calculated on an individual basis according to client needs. Service levels can be adjusted according to clients’ budget by prior negotiation. Two levels of service are offered.

Estimates for this service are priced per 1000 words irrespective of the number of changes or corrections ultimately made. A minimum order cost of £50 applies. The fee is agreed prior to commencement of work and is based on the standard of writing shown in a short sample of your work. If the level of work required is substantially different to that indicated by the sample I will require a revised fee.
Turnaround times vary depending on the length of the document. As a guide, approximately 5 to 8 weeks should be allowed for editing a 100,000 word thesis, and a 30,000 word article may be completed in 1 to 2 weeks. I do not provide any quick turnaround services for entire PhD theses.
For PhD drafts I can work, and clients can opt to pay, on a chapter-by-chapter basis.
